First, the light duty work with SiSoft's Sandra.  These tests are more for quick analysis versus real world testing and comparisons.

Sandra Benchmarks
A quick take

CPU @ 1.8GHz.

Memory @ 266MHz. DDR

MultiMedia @ 1.8GHz.

CPU @ 2.04GHz.

Memory @ 300MHz DDR

MultiMedia @ 2.04GHz.

Since we ran all future benchmarks in this review, with an 18X multiplier, we also provided overclocked scores with Sandra here with that same 18X multiplier on the CPU.  Also, note the speeds on the memory "Stream" tests.  The 300MHz. DDR scores are getting very close to PC800 RDRAM performance now.

ZD Winstone Benchmarks / Comparison - The AV40 Vrs. i850 w/ RDRAM
Head To Head

Here we see the AV40 show commendable performance in the Business Winstone test but fall behind somewhat in the memory bandwidth intensive Content Creation test.

In the 3D Winbench Processor Test, we have much more of a "nip and tuck" race between the DDR based AV40 and the i850 with RDRAM.  These series of tests in the processor benchmark, are compute intensive and don't rely so heavily on the memory subsystem.

Let's dig a little deeper with a more current suite of benchmarks.
